Ok so as the title says...
The last time I bought rims and tires the tire company just picked and installed the ones I needed (and they were off anyway because the tires rubbed) so I never looked much into it. I've started to get a grasp of how tire sizing and such works, so now I would like to know can you fit 4x114.3 bolt pattern rims onto 4x100 somehow? If not can you elaborate?
I ask because I have been offered a set of rims that are 4x114.3 for free.
you can buy a set of adapters for about the price of a set of rims, that will also change your offset.
you can re-drill and re-stud the hub to 4x114.3.
or you could redrill the wheel to 4x100.
i have seen all of those done.
Adapters would be easiest and reversible.
you could reverse any of them, modifying the wheels does not affect the car at all. And drilling the hubs out, you still have the 4x100 pattern, you would just ned to press out the 114.3 studs, and press studs back into the 4x100 holes.
the thing about adapters, you would need at least 27mm adapters if you didn't want to shave down your oem studs. 27mm adapters with almost any wheel on the front will create poke. So really you will be doing studs anyhow. Although, cutting the studs for shorter adapters is fine, and buying the studs when you are finished to fix it is not as big a deal as it sound, its "equal" to buying longer studs just for spacers and having to use those. Just be sure to get hub centric adapters.

Thanks for the help guys, did some research and decided against getting them. They aren't in the greatest shape and aren't worth the effort to convert. 4x100 would have been a different story.
