He told me that the technician agrees with me and to let him know if I want him to get a new mirror so he can order it and get it painted, under warranty, of course.

a new mirror fixed mine-- folded it in at highway speed and the noise went away. made in Taiwan
No, actually it's probably made in Korea like the rest of the body of the car. Not that I'm complaining, because the fit & finish on mine is probably equal to or superior to Japanese cars I've owned - so it's probably not due to a lack of quality control.
The fault might lie with G.M. (now also known as Government Motors) because they designed it. But more likely, perhaps something happened to it at the dealership, while it was on their lot before it was sold to you.
Forgive me for being cryptic, but the "reproduction" part I replaced it with appeared to be made there.
I agree on the fit and finish! Korea appears a solid contender in the auto field these days as well.
Yes, I am the 2nd owner. My Brother-in-law seasoned this one in as a pizza delivery man . Either way, It's true the noise stopped after I replaced it. FWIW, the original one had a sticker on it that appeared to have Korean charachters on it.
