I'm excited, I can't wait for the pics! I've been thinking about doing it on my '08.
im doing it to my 07 sedan. im just trying to get it ready for import face off!:D
Why would you cut springs? Nothing screams "ricer" more then a cheap job done on a car... I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but that can really mess up your suspension! Cutting springs really isn't safe and if you aren't careful you could be on the fast track to ruining your struts and springs. Get some Eibach/H&R springs on there and do your car a favor! The performance upgrade is worth the cost.
Its only like for a week n imma order coilovers tho
i ran cut h&r springs for almost 6 months.. i dont cuts progressive rate springs like i understood stock was, so i bought the h&r's and after they were on for.. oh say... 5 minutes, i pulled them and cut one coil off.
I've been on cut stock springs for 20k miles, while I never planned on being on them this long, but financial problems changed that. Either way, Since I switched to KYB's I havent had any problems, just a little extra wear and tear, but I'm doing fine, either way can't wait to get coils....now if only my sponsors and donations would come through for me lol
i wanna cut 2 rings but im still not sure
my advise is look how the springs are in there with load.. I typically only cut the dead coils. (ie ones touching one another under load).
well i finally cut them, well the front cause it got late yesterday. ill upload pictures later today(:
So hopefully i dont sound like an idiot but when you cut coils does it matter if its off of the top or bottom? I want to get H&R spring but may want the car to sit a little lower after all is said and done. and will i need new struts while im at it?
P.S. Kind of a newbie messing with cars but pretty good technically. I bought the aveo to mess with and learn, plus and i don't see this as being a hard project at all..
on the aveo, you will need to cut the bottom, the top "winds" in.
One coil cut off the back (i think I might have cut two) will make the rear springs fall out when it is jacked up.
Can you really just cut the springs to lower the ride height? What's the ride like?
If you cut DEAD coils only, the ride won't be effected. If you cut LIVE coils, you're in trouble and will have a car that rides like doo doo.
