Yes, you are in effect disabling the crumple zone Good for what I don't know. I might be wrong, unless the guys engineer "failure zones" in event of a crash when they do their testing to see how effective the brace will be.

However, it will 'in theory' reduce body flex and provide better driving/steering response.

That being said; without engineering and testing, who knows how much? Is this something they use on professionally raced aveos? Are there professionally raced Aveos? I guess I'm not thinking the Aveo is a true performance auto, GM usually drops the ball on things like this. I mean, we don't even have any GM aftermarket parts..LOL

But like I said before..I am probably wrong, I'm not an engineer by any means, fabricator probably is since he's proposing this idea.

tested in a fie analysis(solidworks), the whole actual vehicle testing procedure will prove the theory. The engine sits forward of the struts, which is uncommon in a vehicle, which thereby makes it necessary to tighten up such a loose structure, unless we all enjoy a .74g car.

HOWEVER! Turns out SCCA doesn't like anything forward of the strut towers perpendicular as a center brace, so this may not see production...

Why does the SCCA have that rule? Seems silly, a guy is trying to make his car track worthy, but they say you can't because of a stock design?

Ok, can you then design a standard tower to tower unit then?

I dont care to race on a track. The highways here are murder with highspeed turns. I just want to stiffen the suspension and boddy roll. So ideally the braces, lowering springs and 16" rims will help.

Here's an update on the design to fit within SCCA saction rules.

Cross brace may be an optional offering. We shall see.

Is that a tower to tower brace? Sorry, can't see pic clearly.

If it's tower to tower we agree on, I'm in.

Yes, it's official, it will be a two point, but will be the baddest beefiest piece of fabricated structure of a strut brace that you have seen, in my humble opinion ...

Will weigh in around 10lbs, so it's no lightweight, but hopefully we can incorporate a brake master cylinder brace in as well...
