      Going back to stock 14s

I burned off the rubber on my 14s so I figured i'd pick up the 17s for $150. I figured what's there to lose? Well, I decided I want to sell them and put my stockers back on and wanted to know what aveos look like lowered with 14s. It may be a stupid question that noone can answer but it's always worth a shot! so can anybody help me out?

I probbaly won't even lower it. If you cut a coil, will it f#*k it up?

Re: Going back to stock 14s

what i mean is, if memory serves me correct, i believe rabbit got lowering springs and then cut off the "dead" coil.

and if done wrong, cutting a coil can be bad. its not reccomended and i am against it 100%. if ur gonna lower ur car, do it right, the suspension is crucial to ur car, kinda like that thing that burns gas....the engine. ghetto mods are to damn risky like that.

Re: Going back to stock 14s

i bought lowering springs and then also cut the dead coil yes.

as far as it being risky, i know no shop will do it, and no one will tell you it is a safe option. but i have done it to other (heavier) cars without any problems before. typically on cars that the lowering suspensions were not available for (at that time, i think you can get them for anything now a days). Plus have had these on the aveo for more than 4000 miles now and no problems. i put them on ahead of time and confirmed the dead coil before i cut. and i drive the car very hard, probably harder than most drivers with an aveo, and it still has a definite improvement over the stock suspension, all i have to "worry" about is if the springs might break, but i doubt they will. i check them every couple weeks with the tire rotation. the only spring i have ever broken was the stock rear spring on my TT, (along with the sway bar and mount) while auto crossing.

i will be going to coil overs very soon. i found a set out of europe for $650 US shipped. i just need to confirm there are no differences in design, and then pay for them.

Re: Going back to stock 14s

i'm not at all sure on what i want to do.. either keep the 17s and lower it (but its so expensive; and i dont know if it's worth it) or ditch the 17s and go to stock.. decisions, decisions

Re: Going back to stock 14s

lowering ur cars not that expensive. buy springs, 200$. follow how to on here, free. have some smarts, dunno? lol

a monkey could lower a car with changing just the springs. and the how to on here explains and shows it very well. dont be afraid.

and thats not even sayin how well ur ride quality goes up. its exponential.
