the ride difference on the highway is amazing with my new springs. I felt like i was teetering on stilts with the car at stock height.

although i have lowered every car i owned so maybe i just couldn't grasp the stock height ride feeling, since the only stock height cars i have had were my wife's. but she has different needs than me.

i can lower it with ease; it's the same concept as lifting a wrangler; just opposite direction. well maybe. just the fact i want a truck again is what gets me.. so lowering is worth it? i may have solved it all.. lower my car, and buy my stock 14s back for the winter and 17s for better seasons. and then have a nice car and then start resaving for a truck.. doesnt it blow struts and what not?

i bought the kybs for the rear, but as far as i know nothin for the front. but my front struts are still good after 6k miles. buyin stiffer springs for the aveo is def. worth the investment. its almost a must have like the sri/cai for this car.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

the whole blowing struts with lowering springs isn't immediate.. its a over the life of theory..

like if the OEM suspension allowed the strut to last 50k miles.. with the lowering springs it might only last 40k. if you go really low and it bottoms out all the time and you removed the bump stop it might last 10K. they aren't going to pop as soon as you set it on the ground.

well i guess that's what i'm going to do.. now that i have a job and once christmas is over; i'm going to buy them. Do you think Intrax springs are any worth it with 17s? i want the lowest you can go but have it look good and do stock 14s do good in snow?

They do good in snow as long as you have good tires. The stock tires probably wouldn't get you out of your driveway if you got a decent amount of snow.

So far the factory Hankook tires are working well for me on compact snow and ice.

I'm being more cautious than other vehicles I have had because of my unsecurity in this car.

Re: Going back to stock 14s

my car came with kumhos. the seems to do well. but when you get close to speed the back end tends to "Sway" back and forth in the snow.. i find it only happens when the snow is blown in a criss cross pattern on the road surface(if you have ever seen that) so i dont know if its the tires sticking, or sliding. but the super light back end of the car is what allows it and i will say if you hit a spot like that going 70 mph, you will loose the back end, slowing down without brakes (no abs) always gets me out of it, but swinging the ass end out at close to 70 mph is not fun.

my question is why is our federal government so stupid as to require me to have a tire pressure monitoring system that the light stays on for the first 30 minutes of my drive on a cold morning, which shows me it doesn't work. rather than making it mandatory to have ABS brakes?? which would do more good in the snow than a little light on the dash saying my pressure is off.

Re: Going back to stock 14s

The light comes on because your tire pressure is lower than it should be when it's cold but once you warm up the tires, the pressure increases to where it should be.
But I do agree, ABS should be mandatory compared to TPMS. When I was taking my training on TPMS, they were saying that 3000 accidents a year are contributed to low tire pressure. I think it's a total bull**** money scam. If you get regular oil changes, they're shouldn't be a problem with keeping track of your tire pressure.
