I want to install 205/45 17" and will be very disappointed if they rub. Has anyone tried this combination?

search the forum....
This has been discussed MANY MANY times.
Not regarding that specific size (i.e. 205/45 - 17). Search the forums to confirm.
Please do not respond unless you can definitively answer whether the H&R springs will rub with 17" wheels equipped with 205/45 tires.
i ran 205 35s with 17 and no problem i wouldnt run a 45 i wouldnt even run a 30 a 17 is just too big for the car a 215 40 r 16 is one tenth of an inch bigger than factory so no speedo corrections and you dont lose any accelerationQuote:

Likewise, I'm steering clear of anything smaller (even 40 series). The "coolness" factor is not worth bent wheels, worn suspension bushings and a sore ass.
why do you want 17's then? It would be dumb to run a sidewall bigger than 45.... you going off roading?
Go light weight 16's for the biggest wheels. whatever you get... go for a lightweight wheel.
ok... i bought rims off a dude and 3 tires were 205/35/r17, one tire had a 45 sidewall, i put it on the front ansd it rubbed. i eventually got 2 new tires for the front that were 35 sidewall and there is no rubbing. btw the dude tht i bought the rims and tires from wasnt the smartest cookie... hope this helps.
LMAO..no comment
thanks! hahaha yeh nuthin more needs to be said except i did get a hell of a deal, rims with tires for 400 cant argue it. but yeh....Quote:

So you're running stock suspension with 205/45 on 17's?
And they don't rub?!
My 205/40/R17's don't rub with the stock suspension, however the rear wheels are like |.........| that far away from the shock.... Extremely close...
1/2 inch or so? ooofffttt you cuttin it close.
yeah my 45's dont rub on stock suspension, they might barely touch when I run over a speed bump or such but I havent heard it, seen any damage, or anything.
even if they do rub a bit (which on mine it did, but then again it was the only one of four like it) i beleive you can get these insertes that you place inbetween your coils on your springs which would keep them from compressing as much. but thats ghetto and i dont recommend it, but it is a possibility. i forget what they are called, sorry.
 and finally someone with car setup close to specs requested chimes in....they will rub, I have 17's with 40 series and there is slight rub on the the fender wells due to daily bumps in the road so logically 45's will rub, maybe not on perfectly flat conditions but anytime you hit any imperfection it will rub...ive worn off the undercoat and paint off in one spot....not only will they rub but theyll look rediculous and be alot bigger overall diameter wise than stock wheels, so the only reason you would need to lower is because you will be raising the car with the 45 series tire in the first place
