Help me choose my springs!

Hey guys,

So I am getting ready to order my lowering springs and cannot decide what to do. I am not concerened about handling or anything but being as low as I can go. I am plannin on runnin 18 inch wheels with a low pro tire.
I have read all the posts on here dealing with suspension countless times and I can't decide what to do.
I LOVE the car on here with the 3 cut coils but I am not sure if I wanna do that.
My goal is to be crushed on some 18's. If anyone has input, or even better, pics of their lowered aveo on 18's I would appreciate any help. I really wanna see a hatch down on 18's.

It sounds like you're wanting to slam it...I don't think there's anything available for that... someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Are you looking for the car to be as close to the ground or more of the wheels being up in the fenders? cause you could go with a slightly taller tire (which would be easy w/ 18s) to get them to tuck into the fenders. Your going to have to be very careful on the offset you choose on the wheels so keep that in mind. With my car (it's slammed, not aveo tho) if I move the wheels 3mm in either direction it'll rub.

I wouldn't really reccomend slamming of any vehicle, especially if you're still gonna drive it on roads, one pot hole and good-bye car...

But it's your choice, if I would reccomend one thing, it would be don't cut coils off springs, that's a big big no-no.

wow i can see the rim debate happenin all over again but this time lets mix in the cut springs idea lol.

cut springs=bad idea and ghetto

and 18s will fit but they way too big imo, u would have to pay real close attn to the road when u drivin.

I cant remember but someone on here has 18's and lowered.

hes still one of the few runnin 18s on an aveo.

18s make the Aveo look like a boat...

currently the springs offering the biggest drop are Intrax, which offer a 1.5" lowering all the way around... $179...

After all my research that is what I came up with but I am glad that someone confirmed my decision.

Also, thanx for postin the link to the pic on the 18's. It is lookin like Intrax will be my choice.
I have almost everything I would need to bag the car but I don't wanna deal with moisture freezing in the air lines in the winter. Plus, my wife said 3 bagged vehicles is enough.
Judging by that pic, a drop on those wheels would stuff the 18's in the wheel wells rather nice, which is what I am goin for. A buddy of mine had 20's on his Scion xB and just got rid of it. He said I could have those rims for a song but I would rather be on something a little more practical.

If you're going to slam it, definitely head over to a local metal shop and have them make you at least a 1/4" thick skid plate to cover the oil pan... man holes love to pop up on you.

It's really not that bad. I had my lacetti so low that it scraped every speed bump, if it could even get over it. I had it like this for 30k miles without any major issues. Worst thing that happened is the cross member got chewed up a bit. I scraped at least 10 speed bumps a day due to appartments for a little over a year. It's really funny getting it on a lift though and seeing the under side covered in yellow paint.

My front bumper was 6.5" off the ground, rear bumper 8.5", and allot of my peices light motor mounts and cross members were only 3" off the ground.

Has anyone Bagged a Aveo yet???

speed bumps aren't the issue. It's potholes and when they tear up roads to resurface them. The manholes sometimes stick up a good 4"... they'll tear your oil pan right off.

heh, i got my springs done this weekend (what a bitch it was) took it out for a spin, all was good, went to a restaraunt with a slightly steep downgrade to get in to the p-lot. got in fine but comin out i slammed the bottom of my car HARD. point is everything is a hazard with a lowered car.
