Yea 18's are too big, literally.

17's get close enough to the top of the wheel wells and close when you turn the wheels, but 18's just mess it up, 18's WILL touch the walls if you do anything bouncy, or might be too close if you turn all the way.

From what I remember reading on various posts here, people that did put on 18's, wish they had 17's

personally, I think the 18's look rediculous...

A 205/35/18 would fit nearly the same as a 205/40/17 so I don't see why you'd have many rubbing issues, just get the right offset. I know for me personally small sidewalls don't bother me at all as far as ride quality is concerned. I can barley tell a difference between my 215/45/16s squared on a wheel (wheel width matchs the tire well) and my 205/40/17s stretched (giving them even smaller sidewalls and even stiffer).

I don't know how 18s would look on an aveo though, I'd probably hate it. I'm finally upgrading to 18s but it's on a little bit bigger car, and has a 235/35 width so the sidewall isnt as small as a 205/35

All that new power and then you rob it with inertia...

yeh i even am not likin my 17s, it takes a lil more to turn them like audacity said with his big word-inertia.

Yes there are, but the bigger the wheel, the more the weight is distributed farther from the center of gravity, hence more inertia and harder to turn...

Once you get those wheels turning, you still have to stop them... Less acceleration and less braking (An object in movement will want to stay in movement- Newton)

I dont think you'd notice that big of a difference if you get light weight 17s (14 lbs.)
