Largest tire diameter for stock 14" rims?

On the 2011 Aveo hatchback, I was wondering what would be the biggest diameter tire I could put on the stock rims?

Right now, it has 185 60r14 tires, and I understand from past threads that a 195 60r14 might fit...those are 23.2" diameter. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks.

do you want width with the height, or do you want less width for fuel economy/

I can see from your reply that I obviously have some homework to do...never thought that through...I would say less width for fuel economy.

I think our hatchback would look better with 15", or 16" rims, but a slightly larger diameter tire on the 14" rims might also work...but fuel economy is important.

I thought the same, however when I checked the gearing, top gear is an overdrive. I doubt you will ever reach red line in top gear! The car is already overgeared so I decided to leave wheels original and reduce the drag as a better option.

You can try shifting at a lower rpm and inflating the front tyres to 38psi.

I put a 205/45/16 wheel/tire combo on my car and fuel economy went up.

Went with a wider tire so I don't have to slow down for corners.

      I'm joking, btw.

They don't look good on anything other than a '95 civic.

They also need a green neon glow from under the chassis to look good.

weight is almost as important as diameter. but a few good points have been made about gearing etc. you have to watch/mathematically know the difference in diameter as it reflects your numbers in the car.. if you have a 5% increase in speed due to tires size, your car will say it went 300 miles when you actually travelled 315, in @ a 10 gallon tank that is almost 1.5 mpg that is not on the direct numbers.

however your engine might see improvement working less going to a 15lb wheel in the same size, with a lighter or lower friction tire (this is not performance oriented). or do both and really try to increase your mileage.

      or do both

As far as overall diameter goes: I'm running a 185/65/14 right now on my RX car, They're around .2" taller than a 195/60/14, and at stock height you shouldn't rub. The only time I rub is on a full lock corner, and my front sway bar is disconnected.
