lowering

Hey guys, im still kinda new to this and i know this question been ask but i wanna lower my 2007 chevy sedan, i dont wanna go low, i wanna go stupid low!! lol please help me out

My car was alot lower but i had to raise it. I was tired of bottoming out on everything there are just a few things to watch out for when going that low. control arm hitting, going through cv axles hitting the gas tank the front ties rubbing on fendersand the lip on the inside driver side. Those are just for starters. Speedbumps and trian tracks become nightmares steep drive ways are terrible. It takes a skill to drive a realy low car. All in all i would do it again i love my car.

like wat kinds of coilovers cause i really dont want to pay 1200 for the coilovers they make for our cars, i been reading about we can put some from a vw?

ya there is no reason to spend that much. raceland.com look for mk2 golf coilovers should be about 300-400 then get with petrified rabbit and get a end link kit from him then go to the search bar and look up coilover crosspost read up on the step by step and get low to easy.

Hey guys got a question about the upper n lower control arm. Would a vw upper n lower arms fit on my 05 hatch aveo trying to lower it with the coilover.

What do your control arms have to do with lowering it?
I don't think VW control arms would fit, if for some reason you need new ones why dint you just get aveo control arms?

first off, you dont have an upper control arm.

Second, you dont need the lower. The design is similar, but I doubt the measurements are that close.

So if we buy those ebay MK2 coilovers, we are good to go? lol' cant wait hellaflush already

Mk2's will get you down, but not really low. You will bottom out the strut body before you get as low as you want. I went through the same thing. Mk1's will get you real low, so low the rear and front tuck if you want, but it will require some rear fender work, front spindle modification, and if you really want low, front inner fender work. Hellaflush will require front fender work if you are going with 15's to get low. There is a pocket on the inside of the passenger side inner fender that the wheel will rub on. It needs to be cut and removed if you want to flush the front.

This is what you can do with Mk1's, that is still with about 2.5 inches of threads on the front, and 1.5 inches in the back.

I actually decked the front 3 inches from the ground, even at the k members. The MK1's are happy there with plenty of play left in the strut body. That is after modifying the front spindles so that the MK1's will go on the spindle and bolt in. The problem is, that on the passenger side, where the inner fender meets the strut tower in the passenger side tire well, it creates a pocket in the fender well that the passenger front tire rubs. I am running 15's on 195 50 15. I drive sometimes 300 to 400 miles a day with work. The rubbing is not so bad as to cause it not to drive or have steering problems, but when you hit a big dip, or turn to the left agressively, then you can hear the tire skip over that spot as it bounces off of it. The tires are not flat spotting, and it does not happen with normal, gentle turns to the left. If you go any lower in the front, which it will go to 1 inch or less off the ground, the rubbing gets progressively worse. I think part of mine is worn bushings in the K members. My next step is to replace both k members and change the bushings to something other than rubber. I am also going to switch to 195 45 15 and see if changing the sidewall size helps.

First of all Thanks alot D3vo1d:cool:.. andd well i just want to go at least 3 inches lowered, but my wheels are 185 65 15 , i hope it dont have problems.. and well i woould say just cut part of the inner fenders for the fronts lol, but im pretty sure with 45 sidewalls u be ok, but dang 1 inch off the ground is extreme ;)...

i was running 195/45r15 with no rubbing issues and my ride height..
