      lowering question

I have an 08 aveo hatch and soon enough i'm getting 16s. I want to get the H&R lowering springs but my question is, is there any additional parts you have to get so you don't mess things up? Thanks in advance.

      Re: lowering question

generally you want to get shocks and struts made for lowering springs... they don't exist for the aveo, however.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

      Re: lowering question

yea a lot of customers complain that after adding lowering springs, their shocks/struts don't last because of the different rates that the springs give out.

KYB has aftermarket rear shocks available, and front struts are in the works...

      Re: lowering question

My struts were bad when I put the lowering springs on. They were so bad that one of the front struts cant even hold up its own wieght. That was at like 25000 miles. I'm not about to replace it with OEM since they obviously are no good.

My rear shocks went out around 10,000 miles.

so should I get KYB shocks so it wont break as quick?

They're marketed as an OEM replacement, not a "sport" replacement, so I wouldn't count on it.

      Re: lowering question

ive had mine lowered for quite sometime, even had big ol 17x7 wheels on there and my shocks and struts are still working fine...which is surprising because I hit my fair share of potholes

Have you actually removed them and tested them? I'm sure if you do, they will not be good at all.

Yes, the KYB struts will last a lot longer. I got 80k out of the KYB's on my Subaru and that's with autoXing, rallyXing, pulling my dirtbike on a trailer in the woods, etc
