New Pads and Rotors - Squeeks at low speeds when not braking

Hi I just put in my new pads and rotors. Everything went in pretty smooth. However now they squeek when going at low speeds and not braking. Then the squeek goes away once I speed up....

Any ideas what I can check to fix this? I was pumped I was able to do this as this my first brake job but now I'm not so sure.....

Did you use new clips (or reuse the old ones if they were in good condidtion), and lube the backs of the pads and the caliper pins? And did the pistons move freely when you compressed them?

Clips? I didn't mess with the clips. Can you explain. I lubbed the back of the pads. I did not do the pins. Pistons moved fine when compressed.

You're fine if you just reused the clips and they were in good shape.
I don't know if the noise you're hearing could be caused by a sticky caliper pin, but it would be a really easy job to remove the pins and lube them. Did you break-in the pads? Most folks don't and never have problems. Perhaps what you're hearing will just go away in a few dsys.

I broke them in a bit. A couple high speed stops. I'm wondering if I got some grease on the rotor and it squeeks every time the pads hit that spot. I'll leave them for a few more days then I'll inspect em.

Check the inner side of the rotor and make sure the thin metal guard isn't touching. If it is use a butter knife or something to bend it back out, it should have a little clearance. They are practically tin, so they get bent pretty easy, and with the new thicker rotors yours might be rubbing.

That's not the right way to break in pads. The right way is to gently apply the brakes at low speeds to have them seat evenly.

You might want to disassemble them and take a look. Check the rotors too, because new pads won't cure warped or defective rotors.

I have the same problem, but for some reason my breaks squeak whem im breaking in reverse at low speeds more than when im in drive at low speeds.

but i didnt lube anything when i put my new pads and rotors in. ill disassemble and lube the pins and back of the pads. i also have these padded plates that fit in behind the pads that i didnt install when i got them because there werent any when i took the old ones out.

i think i need to install them and lube and see if that helps
