      new rims

ok, so heres the story. i dont want to lower my car right now and not for a long while, so what would be the best rim and tire combination for filling up the wheel wells? i also dont want lots of rubber, i was thinking more rim than rubber. my idea was 16" rims with thin tires? but i dont really know. any ideas?

I would like some input also. My area is to rough to lower my ride, and as is my car is bumping some driveways. I'm running 195/60/14's on the stock steelies, and it makes it look better, but is also a bit more rubber. I'm also considering 16's

you need to maintain the same outside diameter or your gauges will be off. you cant go bigger rims without going less tire. But in both your cases less tire exaggerates the size of the fender gap.

I would recommend a 16" wheel and 205/45r16 tire if your at stock ride height.

for the rough and bumping comment, are you scraping? or is the car just chattering? personally the stock springs on the aveo are terrible for handling and road feel, my h&r improved that dramatically. but if your talking about rubbing or scraping, then your right you do not want to go lowers.

scraping would be a better term. And I will definitely keep that in mind. I don't worry about my speedo being off, I just adjust it in my head with help from friends to note what the new 55 and 65 are. Thanks for the input.

      Lightbulb Re: new rims

I just got 17x7 VRS wheels with 205/40-17, 5 spoke black with polished lip(my car is white) fits perfect, no rubbing, don't stick out too far, grips like crazy, handling is better, uses a little more gas since I have more rolling resistence, and it still leaves room for lowering. I think u could go 18x7 but they are hard to find. 18x8 would need spacers to prevent rubbing and unless u plan to put a 'lip' in the fenders they would stick out to far and u would not be able to lower it. To me the set I got is the best choice.
