Re: New Sneaks for summer
I wouldnt really call any tire with a tread rating of 340 ultra high performance but they are decent tires none the less.
Re: New Sneaks for summer
it depends on where you want to run them.. they aren't sticky and soft for tight cornering, and short burst racing. but they are probably good road racing/highway tires to last the distance..
i honestly haven't gone through and looked at all the treadwear ratings in tires considered summer performance.. but i usually dont buy anything above 300, but probably will this year cause all i do is highway driving and want them to last..
Re: New Sneaks for summer
road racing tires are no where near a 340 treadwear rating. Road race tires are usually R compound and dont have a tread rating.
These are good tires to use everyday.
Re: New Sneaks for summer
i didn't mean sanctioned racing, sorry.
but these sound like a touring tire with some performance abilities? unless the treadwear is wrong on that particular site, it is classified as a summer performance tire so maybe it is one that will last a whole summer?
Re: New Sneaks for summer
Treadwear ratings only really rate within a brand, not between them. That's a decent tire, you made a good decision.
I was considering going to that next, but decided to stick with the Kumho Ecsta SPT which I'm currently running. I was able to get 40k out of them and that's with 2 track days and some canyon runs. ...not to mention all the Bootlegger turns I do on a weekly basis which tends to smoke the fronts pretty good.
The Aveo is light so it's pretty easy on tires and brakes, even with spirited driving.

Just going by what tire rack says, I'm no expert. So far I enjoy the way they feel, took an offramp at 75 today I usualy do at 60, I'll speed it up as the summer heat gets into the road.

i just broke 8000 miles and am on my second set of tires.. they are about half worn.
it is not alignment issues or tire pressure problem either, i just out drive the tires.
