      Open toed shoes?

      Am I nuts, or am I missing about a 1/4" of material here...

      Funny thing is... it doesn't look like the drum setup even uses the middle portion of the material... only the top and bottom?

      I would guess that yes, your shoe is what looks to be about 1" short of material. And YES, drums generally only use about the top and bottom 1/3 of the surface.

      Not even 1/3, though. Looked like it ate the top 1/4" of the leading shoe... then had a 45d angle at the last 3-4mm at both ends of both shoes... doesn't look like anything else got touched. I guess when the tops disintegrated, everything got thrown out of whack.
