Has anyone found a paint that will hold up and not flake and rust in a year?
I'd like to paint them, but don't want to have to repeat every year.

hi temp paint.
yeah hi temp paint or enamel paint works wonders too.
I found some Hi-Temp pain at Pep Boys in like 20 different colors that are very bright. i like the blue one.Quote:

no its just paint. even if you get a lil on the rotor, it will burn off as soon as u hit the brakes for the first time. and unless your a violent painter and break something, it wont void your warranty.Quote:

I used the G-2 caliper paint kit. Easy to use, looks great. I think I bought it from tire rack...don't remember...
but it comes off in a year?
The paint is going to fade over time from the heat so a freshening is always suggested...
I'll probably touch them up when I swap my wheels and tires for the summer set.
umm i painted mine like over two years ago and they are stilll fine, no peeling or fading... the only thing is they get dirty from the brake dust...but when i wash the car they look brand new
wow... a GOOD post from "the brain"...Quote:

If you want black just go with BBQ paint, I've used it on my brakes, exhaust manifold, engine, ect. Most of it I did two years ago and no real fading or anything but it is already somewhat of a flat black.

you going with ceramic pads?
im gettin these: http://aftermarketaveo.com/proddetail.php?prod=FPE0342
with these: http://aftermarketaveo.com/proddetail.php?prod=EDSF0342
i was gonna get the mid grade rotors but didnt see too much of a difference that i would notice so, i just got the basic ones.
yeah, I've got the r1concept 'premium' rotor or whatever they call it...noticed a big difference when heavy braking...
I'm considering a ceramic pad this summer....I've heard they are a little better then semi-metalic and throw less dust...we'll see what happens...maybe one of our vendors could shed some light for us?

Ceramics are supposedly dust-free... that enough light?Quote:

They are better, but not that much of a difference on a car like this...
thanks
High temp ceramic paint works great , I did my aveo 5
Are you sure you want to paint the drums? I personally think painted drums look horrible... on my friends lanos we painted the drums to match my wheels so they blend in and can't really be seen.
i dont know about yours, but my drums are a light tan, grey color? so if i was going to run wheels that you can see the brakes, i would want to paint them at least black..
i painted my drums black just using hi temp engine paint with ceramic. rated up to 500 degrees fairenheit and have no chips or anything. did it about a year ago.
I did my brakes on the Jetta and my s10 with the Dupli-Color brake kit. That was like 2 1/2 years ago, mine still look good, a bit faded but I just wash em' off with the hose when I wash my cars and they look great.
UPDATE....
Just put the summer rims and new sneakers on (BFG g-Force 205/45/16) and the calipers and drums looked good, no paint flaking, or bare spots.
I would, however, reccomend against the drilled/slottes rotor if you live anywhere salt hits the road. Rust forms in the drilled and slotted areas and then gets caught between the brake pad and the rotor then scores the surface. I'll switch back to the stock rotors when these are totally trashed and not use drilled/slotted again.
But very happy with the way the paint job has held up.
im gona do mine with dupli-color brake paint (got it for free from my friend)
It works pretty good, that's what I used. I just used the brush...do you plan to spray them or use the brush? I just thought it was less mess.Quote:

It's a brake caliper paint... you're supposed to bake it after you paint it (you don't have to according to instructions, but they say it's a good idea)... But I went without that... I'm not planning on heating my brakes that much... :D And if I will - I have other things to worry about. :)Quote:
