      Rear Axle bushing problems!!

After reading the info on the site, I decided to do my own rear bushings. I was able to get 2 of them from the local auto parts. I started with the drivers side and about three hours later I was done. I figured I would go over and do the passenger side also. I got to the point of removing the bolt from the bushing when I realized it would not come out because it was hitting the fuel tank. I really did not want to reomve the fuel tank at this point. I was surprised that for as many people that have done these bushings; no one every mentioned that the fuel tank was in the way. Just so you guys know if you are going to do these for yourself....

After thinking about this for a bit; it seems the easiest way to change this bushing would be to cut the original bolt. I am going to pull the bolt out as far as it will go and cut it. Then push the rest of it out and change the bushing. When done I will get a replacement bolt and install from the opposite side. (from the wheel well towards the center of the vehicle.

      Passenger side axel bushing

You have to take out the four bolts that hold the bracket to the bottom of the floor boards. Then you can take out the bolt to axel bushing when you drop the axel down. You will have to undo the emergancy brake cable to the bracket.

Thanks for the info. I just thought it funny that no one mentioned this after doing these repairs. I would have liked to known this before I started. Now everyone knows.....
I started to undo the bracket and the bolts felt like they were going to snap off. Didn't need that...

This thread reminded me that screwing the bolt back in when it starts to get tight while loosening is a good way to prevent broken bolts. It took two or three "out than back ins" to remove most of the bracket bolts on my 08.
