Hi,
I have a 2008 Pontaic Wave(Same as a Chev Aveo) with 140000 km and have a terrible humming noise coming from the rear of the car when travelling 60km/h and higher. The noise doesn't seem to change with an increase in speed, leading me to think that its a wheel bearing. Without opening up the brake drums and dong an inspection, I have a suspicion the RH side is at fault.
Could someone confirm, or even have pics, that the rear bearings are installed in the drums and can be replaced with out any special tools, namely a bearing puller.
For those that have completed this task of replacing the bearings, is it easier to replace the drum and bearing as a set, while replacing the brake shoes, or can I replace the bearing by itself?
Thanx inadvance
Brad
