Small "pop" or "clunk" noise in drivers side front suspension...DRIVING ME NUTS!

      Hey everyone,

So my gf 06 Aveo has been driving me crazy recently. Car has about 60 000km on it and I just replaced both lower control arms with all new bushings, ball joints, and the sway bar end links. Tie rods seem to be in good shape, and pulling and pushing on everything, there is no play anywhere.

However when I drive at slower speeds (under 80km/h) I can hear the suspension clunk over little cracks in the road. Is this a common problem? Am I missing something? I need to get this noise fixed cause it's driving me crazy...I'm thinking it could be to top plate....

      HELP PLEASE lol

based on what you replaced, its most likely the strut mounts, or the sway bar bushings. unless the struts or something are blown.

I'm getting that same noise from my strut mounts. Mine are original and very worn.

Ya true I was just looking at the rear coils and thinking the same thing. I had the strut mount replaced and the control arm bushing to get rid of what I think patrickd_21 is mentioning. Both had some play in my situation. I could reproduce the sound by hitting small speed bumps faster than normal, or by going up a driveway with that tiny concrete raiser on it fast. Drove me nuts too.. and unless one can do the strut mounts oneself, it might be worth upgrading while fixing.

      Clunk noise in front end

I had the same exact issue with my 2004 Aveo, going up and coming down the driveway...believe it or not, when it was all said and done it was a loose bolt. I had the car up on the lift when the tires weres being rotated and asked them to take a large pry bar to see if they could find it. Unfortunately I failed to ask which bolt was loose but assumed it was the sway bar.....haven't heard the clunbk since

Just lowered my car and I am hearing clunks all over

Wondering what I need to tighten to get them to go away, or if I saved / reused some bad parts.

the solid endlink kit will transfer more noise.. but being low your probably just scraping, rubbing, twisting, and binding :P

The front right seems to be 90% of it, the rest is understandable (and attributable to the mult-inch drop). I might jack it up and see if I did something wrong or if there is play somewhere.

Did you reuse all of the bits that were ontop of the stock shocks? Also, how tight / how many threads down are you under the hood?
