what snow tires are you guys running on your aveo. I'm debating between a few different brands at the moment.

Yokohama IceGuard IG52c on the Aveo, General Altimax Arctics on the others.

I'm running some chinese winter tires called Rovelo (made by Sailun). I picked them up last winter ridiculously cheap from Walmart. Yeah, I know what you're saying, chinese tires... At less then $30 a tire I thought I'd give them a shot. They were great for the 2nd half of winter I used them last year. And this year I didn't have time to switch over until a couple weeks ago. It was already getting pretty nasty out there, and so I got to drive my 6 month old brand name "all-seasons" back to back in fairly serious conditions. What a difference. Now, I usually use Blizzaks for my wife's vehicles, but for my daily driver Aveo these have been great. You can't go wrong with any of the 'big name' brand winter tires out there. Look for a reasonable deal from a place like Costco if you have one near you. Or order online.

since they offer very little "driving" performance and none of them work on ice, I go for the cheapest I can find.

The last time i bought a set and still have it was a sale at firestone, i paid $188 for 4 winter forces, installed.

rabbit i thought the same thing until i tried a set of yokohama avs winter tires, they are for sure not cheap, which is what i usually go for with tires, but i found them for sale second hand by a local.. they were so much better that i've kept them on all summer to 'see how the soft rubber' grips and still they were awesome.. still running them now, and its time for me to shop around too i'm thinking of just going for winter tires all year round again.. i paid 190 bucks for the set, but not installed, so if its a do it yourself you can get around same budget

so my two cents camopaint is to look into the option of finding a set of performance winter tires... i am not a brand person btw all i care about is function

I've gone through many sets of snow tires ice racing, and I've tried alot of them.

General Altimax Arctic - Best value for the money, deep siping and soft rubber makes them grip like more expensive tires, Nokian knockoff tread design clears slush extremely well. Took me to 2 club championships last year, but soft rubber means they dont last long.

Anything from Nokian Tire - Excellent tread designs, lots of copycats on the market. They don't give up much grip as they wear either. Expensive, but worth the money for a daily driver.

GT Radial Champiro Ice Pro - An Indonesian Nokian knockoff tread design, the rubber compound is a bit on the hard side for a true snow tire. Not terribly bad for a tire from a country where it doesn't snow.

Continental Extreme WinterContact - Heaviest siped tire I've ever seen on the market, great on glare ice and packed snow, but with tightly spaced tread blocks they struggle in deep snow.

Firestone Winterforce - Great in deep snow thanks to the open tread design, but a hard rubber compound leaves it struggling on ice.

Discounttiredirect.com has some great black friday deals going on right now. Of course I bought a set of Generals for the new daily driver Mazda 6 a couple of weeks ago. I bought through tire-buyer.com for a change, free shipping to a local installer, then $65 to mount and balance. Worked out great, I had my snows on 2 days after I'd ordered them just in time for a storm.
