I've been doing some research on how spacing works, what's 'safe' and what's not.
The general consensus is that 8 turns is the least you should allow when using spacers. The Aveo's bore is 56.6 if I remember right, which means VW ones should do the trick. When I tested how many turns I got on stock studs, I came up with 12.
My question is: is it safe to run a 5mm spacer without extending the studs(NOT adapters)? Does anyone here run extended studs?

A 5mm spacer will be absolutely fine. The hub bore will still center on the wheel hub so that's a plus. I've had 6mm spacers on my rears for almost 5 months now. The lugs tighten down more than enough
I ran a 20 mm in the rear without it. I then switched to 1in with studs.
Wow, I didn't realize there was that much room to work with. How many turns of the lugnut do you guys get, and where'd you get your spacers?
I literally want to overnight some to my doorstep, these stock wheels are killing me a little on the inside. :p
I got mine at autozone... they have 6mm 4 lug and 5 lug spacers there.
i had a 5mm spacer on the front. I run them on the rear in winter. (different wheels).
I would get "specific" spacers that is hubcentic and if wide enough wheelcentric, which is not needed on a 5mm.
Thanks again for all the info everyone, I opted out and got a pretty universal spacer from Autozone. I couldn't justify spending much more then 20 bucks on them lol.
If these ones give me trouble, ill defiantly be in the market for some better quality ones.
I am running 8mm spacers in the rear with no problems, going to switch to a 1" spacer with studs tho as I want the flush look.
make sure to put the 8s on the front lol
