Stock Spring Rating? Coilover Comfort...

I looked all over the forum to try and find a spring rating for the stock aveo springs, with no avail.

Does anyone know what the stock spring ratings are? I'm coilover shopping and want to get an idea of how off track from stock my new suspension will be. I found a set with a front rating of 340 up front and 390 in the rear. Granted, all other MK2 coils I've looked at have a higher rating in the front, the person I got this info from could be backward.

The coilovers I'm looking at are 8380 brand.


This is extra, but I also found that these spring ratings are higher then what the Racelands are. I found that interesting since 8380 has a much more expensive setup for the MK2 comared to even the Raceland Ultimo's.

I do not know what the stock springs are, and I like you have looked everywhere to try to find them. I can tell you, as I have run both MK1 and MK2 coilovers, that the 340 and 390 you are looking at are going to be super stiff with a very rough ride. If you look at rokkor.com or raceland.com, they both advertise their spring rates, and both are real inexpensive. Right now, I am running raceland mk1's with a spring rate of 320 rear and 350 front, and let me tell you, it is not as soft as stock, but it is not real bouncy and stiff either. I find that to be closest to stock for me.

from my research. oem is a progressive rate spring. so there is no rate #.

That makes sense, rabbit. Too bad they do not tell you what the unloaded spring rate is.

I didn't realize they were progressive. From your guys' experience, how do the racelands/rokkors ride? Would it be a waste of money to go for a more expensive setup? I want to retain as much ride comfort as possible. :p

In my experience the race lands ride pretty good for a cheap coil. From what I hear the rokkor are about the same just with different spring rates.
