That is all dependent on tire composition more than tire size

Wow, old thread, but relevant to my question! I am looking at tires right now - there are more options for the 185/65's than the 185/60's. I have used and love the Michelin Defender series tires. No doubt they are a larger tire by 3/4", not a huge jump, but I was wondering how this size affected MPG? It should go up, but just curious - of course the odometer may have to be adjusted - some vehicles don't have to be adjusted, I went up on size on my Nissan truck and it actually was spot on at 80mph. I have heard that some manufacturer's set the speedo so that you are going slower than you actually are. I have not checked my current speedo setting - anyway any answers would be greatly appreciated!
MPG are directly related to mile travelled. If your tire change is 3-4 or even 5% you car does not know it is going that difference in distance if you are using the odometer to calculate mpg.
If you really want to hyper mile, then you need to include some sort of method of calculating the actual distance traveled.
1-3% isnt a huge difference in these tire choices in this thread. but you could run a 135 metric tire and reduce friction patch and pick up close to @ 10% rolling diameter. Which is significant (one of my friends ran these on a civic, those of us air cooled vw guys know a thing or two about tire sizes :P )
I thought I made that clear in my question - explaining the speedo settings, however, if the speedo is not corrected it should show that you are getting less mileage by about 3%, I wanted to know if anyone has reset their speedo, and checked their mileage? also, the width (friction) plays a roll - not here since the width is the same, but then there is wind resistance raising the car allows more drag from various areas on the car. I was wondering if that was anything noticeable or not. do you pick-up that mile per gallon, or does it stay the same? just curious. thanks for the reply!
I am also looking at tires, Thinking of Kuhmo Solus. I see there are KR21 and KH16 (OE size). I see a lot of highway miles (100+ daily). Are these okay or should I try another brand?

looks like KR21s are decent, this thread helped me...
