      UP-SIZING Aveo tires

Will Yokahama P195-65-R15 tires relace my Hankook 185-55-15? I've run the size thru the tire calculator the to see the dimensonal differences, but ride, handling, more airflaow under the floorpan and rubbing could be problems. My 2011 LT is used as an urban 17 mi commuter with driver and laptop. Any advice would greatly be appreciate. The Yokahama AVIDS are factory takeoffs, zero miles for $240/set-no returns.Thank you!

I don't think it would matter much. There is plenty of room in the wheel well if you had not lowered your car.

There is an inch gain in diameter and almost an half inch in width. My only concern with the car with more airflow you will ride "lighter" and maybe subjected to buffeting.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

xintersecty, I very much appreciate your reply with concern about excess air under the floor pan as I am. Also, the "take-offs" are from Toyota sedans that have a higher curb weight than the 2500+ lb Aveo LT 5spd, thus the sidewall would probably be stiffer than the existing Aveo tire. This would translate, in my opinion, to a stiffer urban ride. I think I will pass on the upsized tires for now. Thanks!

I live out the in the midwest for a while. I just remember extreme pucker factor and just being blown all over the damn road with regular 14 steelies. The wind out there can be evil.

Personally I think your regular tires are just fine. So your welcome. Right now once I get my own rear dead axle fixed, I am lowering my ride.

That tire should fit underneath there just fine. Is the car lowered? For reference, I am currently stuffing 195/60/15 under my lowered aveo without problems.

Thanks for your reply! My 2011 LT is stock height, not lowered. How does your 195/60/15 affect the ride of your AVEO and what brand tires are they? I like a softer ride espically over the pot holes and washboard streets here in KC. A harsh, skateboard ride, would get old quickly.Where is Elyria? Take care.

As said earlier, I have stock 15" alloys with 185/65/15, the 65 aspect ratio is great for Midwest winters and crappy streets, if it helps I am also lowered on H&Rs.

I like the idea of an increase in a.r. to 65%. I think that is the way to go, I will start shopping for a good price. As for Midwest winters; being from Chicago, you outa know!!! Thanx. If you know of any 15x6 OEM alloys for sale up your way, LMK.

what do u want to pay, Ive got the split ray style for 09-10, with decent rubber-3 Goodyear and a Khumo. A pothole ate the other good year's side wall. Ive got 3 sets of rims and plan on running my cobalt 5 stars next winter for a few more mm s in height. If u are really interested shoot an offer the worst I can say is no & I am in no rush to sell
