VW Coil Over Retrofit (parts list)

I get a lot of PMs here about installing coil overs and what it takes. So I am going to post this here, again.

You will want to use mk1 vw coil overs. Ride quality will be about the same as the quality of the coil over.

You will need to grind down both sides of the spindle to fit the FRONT strut. (NOT for the faint of heart)

To hook up the sway bar:

set up fee for the fabricator @$50
each cut piece, you need 2. @$20

These will be raw steel, I was etch priming and painting them before shipping.

4 of 6343 - Metric hex bolts, Zinc plated class 8.8 steel, 12mm x 1.5mm x 80mm- 1.40 each= $5.60+
8 of 6877 - Metric hex nuts, Zinc plated class 8.8 steel, 12mm x 1.5mm- .33 each = $2.64+
16 of 4531 - Metric flat washers, Zinc plated steel, 12mm- .14 each = $2.24+
4 of 4829 - Metric lock washers, Zinc plated steel, 12mm- .13 each = .52+

$151.80 + shipping from each facility. The $90 for the two plates can fluctuate. I have paid more, I have paid less I was using ALRO steel, they are local to me but ship everywhere. The quotes are also based on current steel pricing per lb..

Files you will need, I can email them to you. They are a CAD, and a DXF. I assume most companies can still make one of them work?


Considering the added shipping cost and time and cost of painting them, by bringing down cost to the bulk pricing point, and splitting the $50 set up 5 ways. I was selling them for $125 shipped (My shipping to you).
