what are the biggest size tire that fits under the 07 aveo sedan ?

Hello , I have an 07 Aveo LS and i am need of tires. I have the stock 14 inch rims and wanted to put something bigger or wider than the stock 185 60 14. I am not to famillar with this car, i always had older and bigger chevys. I was thinking like a 205 50 14 0r something close to that. Anyone can help ?

      Thanks Mike

well the rim is only 5.5" wide form the factory, or @ 140mm. so if you were to put a 205 on that, you would have 65 extra mm in width, or a tires that is bulged 32.5mm (1.3 inches on each side) which would be WAY too much.

you could easily get away with that tires size on a 7" rim. As the rolling diameter of the 205/50r14 is actually over a 1/2" (.69") smaller than stock.

I'm running 195/60/14's on my and my wifes Aveo's. It throws he speedometer off by 2mph but both of are happy with the way the cars drive with that size as opposed to stock.

195/60/14 here, It's a great size for the stock rims.

Not possible. 195/55/14 would leave the speedometer at the proper speed maybe. 70 is a taller tire, therefore your speedometer is off probably around 5 MPH. The stock size is 185/60/14, Many of us are running 195/60/14. The first number is a measure of width of the tire, the second is height based on a percentage of the width. A 60 is 60% of the width, 70 is 70%.

Correct, but I have checked it several ways, and if anything, it reads .5 mph high, rather than low as would be expected. Only explanation is that it was reading high before, due to being defective or out of calibration.

I don't recall checking it with the smaller original tires, and I'm on the second set of Hancooks. Just lucky, I guess ...
