What do you guys think?
My cousin just recently bought these and installed it on his car. I reckon it looks alrite and was thinking of rebarreling my current steelies to look like this, any ideas if it would look alrite or not or if there is anyone with these on their aveos? :)

Re: What do you guys think?
Looks alright. I'd personally rather go with silver or white instead of orange.

Re: What do you guys think?
those are pretty sweet. even better for it bein a daily driver

Re: What do you guys think?
Where do you buy those from?

You can get it done at wheels specialist, its just widening your stock steel rims. If your lucky you can find some on ebay.

Re: What do you guys think?
I actually like that....how much does it cost to do that
-
Re: What do you guys think?
A"distant" friend of mine does them:

i say distant because the guy who actually makes them is the father of a close friends ex girlfriend..
plan on buying wheels that look decent uncovered. 12 hole vw 14" or corrado 15" steelies would fit the aveo and look good. And then spending what the wheels cost to have them widened properly.
Problem with the aveo, you cant really go as deep as those orange lip ones from the looks, at least in front.

Re: What do you guys think?
I still think they look pretty nice that way.

Re: What do you guys think?
Thats a Mirage right? Does he want to sell the car with out the rims? [-o<

Re: What do you guys think?
I don't like it, funky colors don't apeal to me, Silver would look better, but again if u gona use stock steel wheels why not just use a nice set of hub caps or live them plain black? Maybe paint thoe and sell them save the money towards a nice set of alloys.

Re: What do you guys think?

Re: What do you guys think?
Yeh i think i'l be getting these in 15 along with king springs. And they will be coming in 4x100 not 5 stud like in pic. Another question is would i need to change my shock absorbers if i install new lowered springs. And do you guys reckon there would be any problems if i ran these rims with 205/65r15 tyres with the rim offset at +40 and is 15x7. Thanks

Re: What do you guys think?
Those widened steelies are sick. Of course, I'm an old school dubber so I'm into that stuff. 8)

honestly i dont think you could run that tire (tyre) size and have room to lower it.

you can get away with not, but the life of the shock will be shortened slightly. This would even be the case with the KYB replacements because they are stock length as well. What other options do you have over there?
If your spending the money on shocks and springs you might as well get coil overs.

I stuck a set of the vw 12 hole steelies on one of my Rabbits back in the day. I thought they looked good.

Re: What do you guys think?
We seriously have nothing for aveos down in Australia and coilovers would be somthing on my mind but at the moment its not available and doubt there will be over here since the market is so small for aveos in australia. So yeh finding ways to mod the aveo is pretty complicated over here haha.

Re: What do you guys think?
Well you can do what rabbit did with his. However your just gonna end up paying more because of international shipping

Re: What do you guys think?
Ok guys i finally bought wheels which were 2nd hand but picked up for real cheap with tyres. Pics is of actual wheel but not fitted on my car. The rear are fine but the fronts would not clear the brakes so i tried on a 5mm spacer and it seemed to just clear but there doesnt seem to be enough thread for me to lock the nuts onto. Any suggestions? specs of the wheels are 15x7 offset35. Thanks
-
Re: What do you guys think?
A 5mm spacer should not cause that, it must have a high seat in the wheel. Can you start the threads at all? how many rotations do you get?
-
Re: What do you guys think?
around 7 or 8 rotations. Whats the minimum? thanks
-
Re: What do you guys think?
well 8 turns x1.5 pitch = 12mm of bolt contact, thats only 2mm shy of the thickness of a vw hub.. (entire threaded section).
I generally like to see 10 turns at least. its hard to say on studded designs though. with my 5mm spacers i still get more than 10 turns then use my impact.

Re: What do you guys think?
I'm pretty comfortable saying that it should be fine. In my industry, our rule is 1X fastener diameter engagement for steel. I'm sure that includes a safety factor and that also allows for when you are torquing fasteners to the limit of their tensile strength.

Daox why do you sound like an engineer or machinist?

Re: What do you guys think?
Pretty close. I'm a designer, which is basically a drafter that also does some design work.
-
Re: What do you guys think?
you should get a pic with you and the gear :P
-
Re: What do you guys think?
Thanks for the replies guys. After reading some stories about putting spacers at the front have actually put me off it since i do alot of freeway driving haha. I'm just worried about the stress the front would hold with the wheel sticking so much out and the amount of rotations i have on the wheels nut. anyways heres a pic of the car with the wheels on and with the 5mm spacer.
-
Re: What do you guys think?
honestly youll be fine, i ran 30mm spacers on my rabbit in front, and 40mm in rear.
VW guys push the limits on offsets, spacers and stretch, etc.
My aveo has over 10k on my current set up with a 5 mm spacer in front, i wouldnt go more than that without some other work, but the wheel stays hubcentric with only 5mm. And the rear wheels on my car are 10mm offset they car does great on the highway, and the tires wore perfectly fine, no parts need replaced because of the wheels and offsets or spacers.
If you dont want to run the spacers, you can shave down the carrier until your clear, but you need to know what your doing there. I've done it too. I actually have 10mm spacers and shaved the carriers on one of my cars in order to not need bigger studs pressed in ant stay hubcentric.

Re: What do you guys think?
Thanks rabbit im gonna get new tyres on them and fingers cross nothing bad happens lol.
