honestly youll be fine, i ran 30mm spacers on my rabbit in front, and 40mm in rear.
VW guys push the limits on offsets, spacers and stretch, etc.
My aveo has over 10k on my current set up with a 5 mm spacer in front, i wouldnt go more than that without some other work, but the wheel stays hubcentric with only 5mm. And the rear wheels on my car are 10mm offset they car does great on the highway, and the tires wore perfectly fine, no parts need replaced because of the wheels and offsets or spacers.
If you dont want to run the spacers, you can shave down the carrier until your clear, but you need to know what your doing there. I've done it too. I actually have 10mm spacers and shaved the carriers on one of my cars in order to not need bigger studs pressed in ant stay hubcentric.
