I just bought a 2006 Aveo hatch last week and been contemplating on upgrading the wheelset from stock steelies. Will a Konig rim with 205x40R17(20mm offset) tire size fit my car? This is my daily driver.

I'm pretty sure they won't. If i'm correct, your tire size is 185/60r14. Not only are you increasing the diameter three inches, but you are getting wider treads that won't work with wheel leaning. You will have all sorts of wheel well rubbing when your suspension is doing its job. Even if you get your car raised, you would need wheel spacers and to widen your wheel well. This is because raising the car only raises the maximum height upwards, not to the sides which will be the same diameter regardless. You might have a better time trading them for something smaller, like possibly 15 or 16" w/ 195/60r15/16 running wheel spacers. With wheel spacers, you could even get a sexy rim that doesn't match your original pattern.
look at willtheyfit.com use what that info gives you to see how your wheel will change. and then measure. I think you will be fine with those tire sizes, but offset might kill you. The only saving grace might be you are on stock suspension?
