tell me about Rochester NY

im planing on moving to Rochester NY in a year or so for school, im alrady accepted to Rochester University for BSN program, and doing my electives by way of internet.
i will be living the the area of the university and the hospital.
my questions for you guys are:
1. what is that naghborhood like?
2. what are the good areas in the city and what are the bad area, im asking caz i don`t like the suburbz, im more of a downtown person, but after i walked-around downtown Rochester at 1 am by that river and the baracated storefronts im not shure anymore.
3. im my city all the night life ie tuner meets, clubs, bars happends in downtown, were is that area in rochester

STAY OUT OF DOWNTOWN (and surrounding limits) AFTER DARK!!!!! Every day we wake up to more shootings on the news...

To be completely honest, Rochester is a ****ty place, the East side burbs are the place to live.

The 'tuner stuff' takes place at Charlotte Beach...I'm not a bar or club guy anymore so I'm not sure where to go...sorry

also the west side is nice ,

im not in to the bars ether but i just like to live in a place were they are located (clubs, bars, parties)

were is the charlotte beach located, and what other places to stay away from?
what about the area of the rochster university and strong hospital by the airport? is it good or bad, and is that the west side?

Near U of R isn't horrible. I've got a few friends there, and might end up moving there in a few years If I can get a residency placement at Strong. I'll ask one of my friends who is finishing up grad school where he would recommend. I know he walks to school from his apartment... didn't know if you'd be interesting in something like that.

I'd probably recommend living near twelve corners in Brighton. Its about 3 miles from Strong, about a 7 minute drive. That area is pretty safe, with a few bars and clubs and shops around there and Monroe Ave. Monroe Ave itself isn't horrible either. I know a few people who live around there.

Charolotte Beach is down Lake Ave, well, by the lake.

yea and for the west side, thats hamlin, brockport, spencerport, and parts of greece
