Furface: has the problem only been happening during the winter? On days with relatively high humidity?
And when it happens, does the engine stop instantly, or lose power until it quits?
If "yes" to all of the above, it sounds similar to carb/throttle body icing. Pulling over and waiting for a few minutes allows the heat of the engine to melt the ice buildup in the intake, and then the car will start & run normally --- until it happens again.
Modern throttle bodies are heated via engine coolant to avoid this issue. It could be plugged but I find that unlikely.
Breanne, yeah, the DISTRICT SPECIALIST called Monday and went over the situation. He was going to try to get me a free loaner through my local Dealership by Wednesday sometime. I told him that that is all I wanted from GM was to fix the problem since it is under WARRANTY. I told him it might take a day, a week, a month for the problem to service. Now for the last two days, it has not DIED. All i have been getting from GM is "I'm apologize for the problem you're having". Cut the BS and fix it
Daox, your thinking sounds like a likely problem. I through 2 bottles of injector cleaner in a full tank of gas. Well see what happens
GO or BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!.............lol
MetroMPG, The problem started last summer and it died about once a month. I didn't think too much about the problem, hell, the fish were biting, but this last Fall it started to get worse and worse, then within the last month it was dieing about 3 times a day on an average. It doesn't matter what kind of weather it is......it just dies
Breanne, pardon my ignorance....here is my case number 71-1031252603
Im glad to see you have started getting some help! And I LOL'd at your idea of parking the car and putting up a sign. So what has the specialist said? (other than getting you a loaner) congrats, it just stinks that you have to be annoying to get things the way you deserve. Service after the sale is spot on!
jriggs87, I don't know if I am getting any help or not.........LOL. Maybe their plan is to keep this alive until the warranty is up......hahahahahaha......shame on them!!!!! The DISTRICT SPECIALIST is going to see if my dealership will give me a free loaner. When I started this I was nice and convinced GM would take the ball and run with it and resolve this issue since we have been loyal GM customers for some 75 years between me and my wife, but NNNNoooooooooo, they keep passing me off to someone else. I bought a new Ford Vega when they first came out and it was a LEMON. I had it on display at a local Super Market on a main drag of town with a sign saying " $2.00 A HIT WITH A 16 POUND SLEDGE HAMMER". I had enough money to pay the loan off plus hiring a wrecker to haul it away. Ever since then I have been a LOYAL CHEVY owner and I'll do the same thing again and go with a foreign car.
I had the identical problem with my '08 Aveo. It took the dealer over a week to identify the issue, turned out to be the Powertrain Control Module, replaced under warranty (72,000 miles). I think the skill of the technician and the attitude of the dealership can make a big difference.
