furface: HAHAHA! thats priceless! Im with you, as much as I love chevy, if i ever had the same problems you had, id be driving an Accord or even that new cool looking cr-z honda came out with. When you say district specialist, is that a mechanic? a title like that should mean he should know exactly what is wrong with that car and if not he should vouch for you to get a replacement at no risk or hassle to you. I hope you can get a loaner car so you can tell the dealership not to call you until the car is fixed. on a side note, and im really just joking with you and trying to make light of the situation, is it possible that wife of yours has blown a fuse herself and is making the whole thing up? LMAO!!!

jperodeau, thanks for a bit of good news. When you talk about the " Powertrain Control Module ", is that the same as a "ECM"?

Well, people........GM contacted me and said they will line up a rental car for my wife for 19.00 a day and if it is under warranty they will reimburse us for the rental. Low and behold that darned car has not died once in the last week. I told my wife the next time it dies, find the closest GM dealer and have them run a code on it as long as the CHECK ENGINE light is on. Think that might work People???

thats the chance you have to take jriggs87 when mechanics have to diagnose the problem.i bought brand new 06 chevy truck(13km) had drive train clunk gave it to dealer for 1 week (they put 350 km on my new truck)didnt find anything wrong.(also used my brand new lighter)i dont smoke so this was obvious to me but dealer assured me nobody would have smoked in my brand new truck!took it to another mechanic small shop(didnt charge me)i was able to replicate the clunk with me driving (him in it)and he just said it was the way the yoke of the drive shaft had normal play(ok i except that) just traded truck in for dodge ram that had no drive train play.not bashing gm dealers, just sayin your always taking your chances leaving it to diagnose no matter what shop you deal with.

All dealers are full of it, I don't care which brand it is, though why the hell would you buy a chevy truck in the first place?

I agree jriggs87, here it is the 16th and 700 miles later and the darn thing hasn't died yet. A mechanic would have to drive it a bunch to MAYBE find the problem as I pay 19.00 a day plus gas. I am still going to stay with my plan...................if it dies, take it to the nearest dealer and run a code on it. Will keep you updated on when it dies and what was wrong with it, ok?

Ok just heard a story about dodge caravan's dieing for no apparent reason at any speed. This ended up being the top 02 sensor. It would actually not throw a cel or cause any other noticeable issues, the vehicle would just die when it wanted to. I know it is a different motor and system and all. But it's similar in some ways so might be worth checking into.

Daug1502, GM Dealer said I had a 02 sensor bad but said it would not do what it is doing (DIEING). It is different but then a 02 sensor is a 02 sensor
