I'm really hoping to avoid that route because I don't really like the stalk. I want either factory cruise or the switch specs so I can make my own switch to go in one of the blanks on the dash. Rostra will be my last resort.
which 4 wires? would be the same wires for the factory switch i would think..
+1, I checked my stealership and they wanted ~$50.Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit
For $35 I'd buy it. You should help a brotha out. Lol
The Rostra setup uses: 12 volt positive, ground, and the 2 factory cruise wires at the drivers knee panel. The knee panel wire color varies depending on the year. On the 09 & 10, the wires are gray and brown.Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit

I'm intrested...and I'm not sure if anyones done it on the newer Aveos yet....but according to the schematic for a 2010, the cruise control switch goes through the clock spring, and links into pins 30 (grey) and 31 (Brown) on connector x1 of the ipc, from there it communicates with the ECM using serial data lines
I'm taking the plunge on this....
I have a 2010 Aveo5 LS. Don't like the idea of adding an aftermarket unit to it. Figure it would be something for the dealership to use to deny any warranty work. So....
I got a steering wheel and column with cruise out of a junkyard for a 2009 Aveo.
I have to pull the steering wheel off of it. This is where it became a pain in the.....
.....there are no threads in the holes to use a steering wheel puller. I'm gonna have to modify something to remove it.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to post pictures here? When I work on it tomorrow I'll snap some pictures and kinda do a how to on installing it in the factory location.
Unbolt the steering wheel bolt (behind the airbag) and just grab the steering wheel at 9 and 3 and rock it back and forth and pull towards you. it should give way
