Automatic Transmission Gearshift Indicator Light Out

The shifter position indicator light is out on my 2006 LS.
What is involved in replacing it"

OK, Center console won't come out as the parking brake handle won't come up high enough. Ended up having to pull the shift gate up. Got the bulb changed but had a tough time getting the gate back in place. Ended up having to take the indicator slider out to get the gate back in place. Now I have to press the shifter unlock to get it out of park. Also the key won't turn to the off position. If I disconnect the battery I can get the switch to off and remove the key.
Question is where, physically, is the solenoid that prevents the ignition switch from going to "off"?
