Cheap way to tint your turnsignals

I used regular 20% window tint. Took me 1 to 1.5 hours to do. (had trouble with the tint on the first light) This cost me $10 + time. To pay someone to paint it, the right way would run you about $100 for tails and another $40 for front TS in my area.
Sorry for the large pictures. I dont know how to resize them, once downloaded.
1. Remove your grill, 5 screws-philips head
2. Remove the head lamp which is held in with 3 10mm bolts. then unplug the harness.

3. Remove the 3 bulbs from the turnsignal and 2 9/32 bolts

4. Push inward on the lamp with medium strength is tough to pull out.

5. Apply your tint to the light, work out your bubbles and trim.
6. Reverse the process to put back in. Careful not to scratch it.
Finished...

I had lamin-x protective film on my turn signals and tail lights for over a yr and still as dark as the day i put them on till i got pulled over last week and made me peel them off in 20 deg weather, now i gotta wait a couple weeks till i re apply them once it gets a little warmer out
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
I have had the VHT niteshade spray tint on my car for a couple years in Arizona sun and it lasts great. Have had it our others cars for awhile now too.
I think all aveo owners should do that with your front turns....looks really clean!
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
Can you still see the turn signals so you wont get a ticket?
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
same question as above...and does the spray tint work good too?
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
I've used the VHT Nightshades on headlights before and it was ****. It "fish eyed" bad and it had to all be sanded off.
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
Yeah just use the spray tint forreal... Its the easiest to do, the best looking, and cheap, i went to a place called hobby town about 20 minutes from my house and got two cans for 10 bucks. I blacked my parking lights, and taillights with it, without taking the parking lights out! oh and I did my side markers too without taking those out!
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
ill have to do this too, does it dim the light a lot?
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
the more you put on, the darker the lights get..
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
Actually it gave mine a red tint... cause of the orange being covered with black, of course
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
i like the black and red combo too, too bad i got yellow and sold all my neon lol
my car will be green by the first of the year i hope :x
but i had the streetglow undercar kit, another cheap wirless kit off ebay, and another 250 in like 15 neon bars and leds lol, lit up real good
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
how many coats should you do to black it out but the still work ok?
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
that is going to depend on how thick your coats are. and your technique.
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
I see the pictures and they all look great but can someone please turn on the marker lights so I can see how much light comes through? \:D/
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
Is it legal to tint the turn signals? And/or the headlights/taillights too?? I wanna get the black ones, but there isnt anything available yet for the 2009
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
I have gotten stopped once by a state trooper here supposedly because of my tailights. I believe it was because my yellow sticker on the tag had december 09 on it and i got stopped in december. So that was expired he said. Luckily i dont think he noticed i tinted my front turn signals. I got a warning anyways. But i pass regular cops almost everyday and none stop me

What type of headlights are those!!!?? I think that is what I have been looking for!
Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
they are the stock lights torn apart with the "inner outer" housing painted black.

Re: Cheap way to tint your turnsignals
For my 08 Kia Optima, I used Rust-oleum Lens Tint and they came out great. I will be doing the same to the Aveo's tails and side markers. I used regular window tint (20%) on the front turn/park lights from another thread on here. :)
