Mine is a 2010, but they're very similar. Brought out the Dremel and removed alot of the interior plastic that stuck out. Works perfectly. Sight of it isn't nearly as good as where you placed yours, but I know exactly which button is which.

Hello Everyone, I am a new aveo owner, o7 ls sedan, I am in the US, just outside of chicago. It is always nice to find so much info on a car and tips and tricks, which is one thing i usually look for before buying. I am attempting cruise control, I already have the part for the 07, I just have some wiring questions. I was a mechanic in the navy for 8 years, so let me tell you i have exhausted all options i know to do this. So here i am. I have some pics showing underneath my dash, and of the suspected plug. Please let me know, if possible, if i am missing the wires or if they are a different color, if they are not there, can i still install c.c.? Thanks in advance.

since you have a 2007 Sedan, you might want to read though this thread: http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f94/2...install-11769/ It highlights the installation of Cruise Control on the 2007-2011 Sedans, and the 2009-2011 Hatchbacks. its a mod that I've done myself, and its MUCH Easier to install than on the 06 Cars.
I had forgotten about installing the cruise control until I saw the email inviting comments about modifications. My 2007 came with a lot of 'pork' installed, but no cruise control. A couple of 1100 mile trips almost killed me - I'd emerge from the car nearly a cripple. Since there is no local Chevrolet dealer I trust, I decided to try a do-it-yourself install. First some research, then a purchase from a top-rated eBay seller. When the kit arrived, I took one look and set it aside because the task looked to be too daunting. A very talented relative goaded me into making an effort, and volunteered to help. We were well started when we realized the instructions were not adequate. I dashed to the internet computer and downloaded a PDF for the same model kit. By combining the two instruction sets, we (mostly he!) got the thing installed with the control on the steering wheel column. First try, it worked, and has been a blessing for over three years.
Conclusions: 1) an Aveo is useless for long trips without a cruise unit. 2) I'll never try this sort of project again - but will either purchase the vehicle with a factory installation or pay somebody to do it for me.
I've read all of these posts and related, and still have not been able to figure out where to connect the two cruise control wires on my 2007 Aveo sedan. My car does not have cruise control wires at the harness with the horn wire; it only has the audio wires.
I have studied the description on how to do it on the 2006 car, but the connectors at the firewall do not have the same color wires as described therein (green with white stripe). I am reasonably handy and can usually figure these thing out. Solomonj76 posted pics of his 2007 wiring; it is the same as mine. The attached image shows the connectors at the firewall. (image is turned sideways, left is the top.)
I'm not really sure why all of the DIY cruise threads direct you to a connector on the firewall, when the two wires you need are run to the white connector from the airbag clockspring regardless of whether cruise is installed or not. If you pull the lower dash cover off underneath the steering wheel it is mounted toward the center of the car. Theres a mess of wires coming out of one end of the connector, and only one wire coming out of it for your horn.
The wires you'd need to tap are the gray and brown wires on the female connector. The colors may vary between models, but they're in the same positions.
If those wires aren't there, then you'd need to go to the firewall I presume.

The wires you'd need to tap are on the other side of the green and gray wires on the connector pictured here. The colors may vary between models, but they're in the same positions on the connector.

Thanks, Thud. I did try the connector to which you are referring. In my car (2007 base sedan) there are only three wires on that connector; one for the horn and two for the radio steering wheel switches. Only one wire is used; the green wire is for the horn. I tried connecting the cruise control switch to the blue wire and light brown with white stripe wire... the result was I couldn't change the radio station with the buttons mounted on the radio!
Here is a pic of the connector with the horn wire and the non-used radio control wires. Sadly, I still am without operating cruise control...
By the way, to make the connections, I tinned (with solder) the exposed ends of my small gauge wires, flattened the tinned wire slightly with a hammer, and inserted them through the "unused" end of the connector in the appropriate locations. They new wires protruded just like the original male ends should and connected together just like the factory intended without cutting into any original wires.
(PS as far as I know, the airbag wires are in a yellow protective cover. The connector in question is solely for steering wheel-mounted controls.)
it would be the black and gray wire "above" or "behind" the blue and brown..
and I think you need to look on the other side of the connector.
