Yeah I saw that video even before geting into this forum, but unfortunately discovered later that my car had a different connector than Shocker's.

So in Shocker's video you can see that the connector he has right behind the knee panel is the one I have above my accelerator pedal.

In my opinion that should still be fine. Just wire it up roughly at first and take the car for a drive.

Wouldnt anything terrible happen (like my car not wanting to brake or accelerating to 8000+ rpm) happen if I just trial-and-error it?

I've installed enough remote starts, power locks, stereos, etc to say confidently that nothing bad is going to happen in this case. Worst case is it's just not going to work.
