Disable the DRL module on a 2004-2008 Aveo

Well My DRL module failed and my headlights would not turn off. So I wrote up a little instructable on how to disable it.

How to disable the Daytime Running Lights on a 07 Chevy Aveo.

Okay, so I removed my DRL module, but I'm left with a question.

If I leave my headlights on and pull the key out of the ignition (car off), my car will still ding that the lights are on, and won't automatically shut off like the manual says. Does anyone know why this might be?
