All you have to do is, unplug the wiring harness from the module with the white sticker on it. Its labeled and is upside down. And is right above the gas pedal.

For laymen like me, DRL = Daytime Running Lights
I assume this is to disable the DRLs.
Cause I would like to get some silverstar bulbs, but I don't want the DRLs to burn them out. I don't really like the idea of keeping the parking brake on the first notch.
thanks for the post
Highly recommend against silverstar bulbs. Just had one blow up (yes, blow up) in my jetta.
The other sylvania bulbs seem fine, though. You get a much better beam pattern and penetration out of them also.
Hmmm...that kinda scares me. I just put a set in my Aveo a few weeks ago.Quote:

Usually, they blow up when you touch the bulb or it comes in contact with something cold while hot.
I'm sure my exploding bulb was out of the norm, but I know brian has had problems with them also...
I had some Silverstars in my Aveo...Never blew up. The Passenger Side bulb did burn out... I had them in the car for about close to a year, with DRLs and all. I had to put the stock ones back in it, but I will be buying a replacement pair soon. The light you get out of it is spectacular...
I have an 07 Aveo LS sedan and I cant seem to find the DRL module. Does anyone know if it is located in a different spot on the 07s?

Same thing with the cold thing...any type of glass does that.
I haven't had one problem yet with my Silverstars
Is it year specific for that trick? Not sure if it works for all years cause on my '06 I cant find it!!! There are two plugs above the gas pedal one actually attached to the pedal, other than that I cant find anything...
Is it easier maybe to find it with lower dash cover off??
Steve
its a pain to get out if your not in the right position it took me a half hour atleast to get it out. lol
anyone know which wire is the power? id rather just hook the drl's up to a switch....so i can just flip 'em on for inspections.....
(and you cant run HID's w/ drl's cus itll wreck the ballasts)
dont go silverstars, im pretty pissed with them right now. i have only had them in for about 3 months, and 1 allready blew. the light that they emit is perfect. but damit there not cheap, and if there going to blow like that then i am just going to look into some HID'S
ya, i had silverstars in my trix....didnt even last a year before they all started going.....
now i run nokya hyper yellows in my fogs and some ghetto pac mall (pacific mall in toronto, on) lights for my lows.....look better than silverstars and are half the price....
nice
Yeah..im back to stock bulbs..one of my silverstars went out..i replaced it and the other one went.
anyone know?Quote:

Barber, I think there is an old post in the "how to" section, it has an electric scematic for our cars
Yes Steve, it is easier to get at with the lower dash cover off. I think a 10mm socket does the trick. I found it while looking for the horn relay. Which by the way is located on the lower left rocker panel in case anyone needs to find it. (under your left foot while sitting in the drivers seat)Quote:

If they insisted on only changing the dead bulb, he'd only change it if they signed a waiver saying he had no responsibility when the other lamp blew. He always recommended they should replace both and always gave a deal when both were replaced, but when the customer insisted that only the dead one be changed and the other blew a few days later, some people tried blaming him on causing it to blow so he could make more $$.
I think because the voltage fluctuates, if 1 blows and you only change that one, the voltage and resistance differential between the two bulbs causes the weaker one to blow... so you always have to match them all the time.
or maybe because you buy and install a pair at the same time so logicaly when one blows, the other should be near it's life span as well?

LMAO
Yup... don't forget we live in a world where incompetancy is at an all time high. More so now than when my dad was working, having been retired for 10 years now.Quote:

winner!
It's amazing how A.D.D. can take over a posting...
On my '08, the module is located above gas pedal a bit lower, as described. The HAMSAR sticker is YELLOW. Get a long shaft flathead screwdriver. Visually locate the module. While laying upside down with your head on the carpet, BLINDLY grasp the wire loom connected to the plug with your left hand. Push in the square hook tab located on right side of connector plug with flathead screwdriver that should be in your right hand. Gently pull on the wire loom, popping out the connector easily.
Thanks for locating the module under the dash(stupid daytime running lights).
right below my DRL module, there is some lil brown box. this cant be BCM can it?
holy thread revival....but anyways one of bulbs just burnt out so I went and got some sylvania bulbs...silverstar i believe :| i wish i had read this thread first and went with cheaper bulbs because i pray these 40 dollar bulbs don't break. I managed to rip the rubber covering on the back of the headlight housing too which i have to replace now...but i did unplug my drl to conserve the bulbs
hey barber, nice aveo, got the same exact setup... same color.. nice...
Ahh thanks for finding this! I've wanted to disable the DRL's since I got the car, And presto, you guys found out how, and posted, thanks!
For DRL's I use my parking lights which also powers my city lights, and if people dont see that, then there not going to see anything. And the car looks cooler.
For those have trouble finding this plug....Its not on the firewall (like the cruise control mod plug is), its on the dash side of things. Above where your right leg would normaly be. A few inches up.
If you find the data port hook up, your close. Its almost above it and over towards the center a little bit. Mine said hemstar on it just like the pic.
Just squeeze the tangs and pull.
Sweet.
another thread back from the dead!! they just pop up everywhere!Quote:

Any chance you unplugged anything else? The speaker for the door chime is right under there as well.
If you look under there again, there's another box closer to the centre of the car that is for the chime. you probably hit or unplugged it.
Where can I find a DRL module other than GM for my 2004. Don't want to pay dealership prices. Mine started going out in my dash panel just recently. Would come on after starting engine, then would disappear after a few minutes of driving ? Really I'm fine with out it unless it affects other areas. Will I need it when I get inspection as I live in a state requiring such ?
Thanks in advance.
Great! I always hated having DRL
