Yes Steve, it is easier to get at with the lower dash cover off. I think a 10mm socket does the trick. I found it while looking for the horn relay. Which by the way is located on the lower left rocker panel in case anyone needs to find it. (under your left foot while sitting in the drivers seat)

Holy thread revival, but the new DRL thread got me reading this one and just a comment on this-
if one bulb blows, you HAVE to replace both, for incandescents (halogen and regular bulbs). My dad was a mechanic and for almost every car that people brought to him for a dead headlamp, 9 times out of 10, if only 1 was changed, the other one would go within a few weeks.
If they insisted on only changing the dead bulb, he'd only change it if they signed a waiver saying he had no responsibility when the other lamp blew. He always recommended they should replace both and always gave a deal when both were replaced, but when the customer insisted that only the dead one be changed and the other blew a few days later, some people tried blaming him on causing it to blow so he could make more $$.
I think because the voltage fluctuates, if 1 blows and you only change that one, the voltage and resistance differential between the two bulbs causes the weaker one to blow... so you always have to match them all the time.

or maybe because you buy and install a pair at the same time so logicaly when one blows, the other should be near it's life span as well?

      *2

I normally replace both, and leave the good used one in the glovebox for emergencies.

edit: people go to a mechanic to have headlights replaced?!
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.

Yup... don't forget we live in a world where incompetancy is at an all time high. More so now than when my dad was working, having been retired for 10 years now.

It's not the voltage. It's because the filament has a lifespan. As the lamp is being used, the filament burns little by little, reducing it's resistance (ohms). Two new bulbs will have the same resistance, but a new one will have a higher ohm rating than a used one.

The physics of electricity are easy to understand. One rule is, electricity always finds the least resistance to ground. If a used bulb has a lower resistance, more current will go thru it, which in turn kills it prematurely. Always replace bulbs in pairs to avoid problems.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

      Re: DRL

It's amazing how A.D.D. can take over a posting...
On my '08, the module is located above gas pedal a bit lower, as described. The HAMSAR sticker is YELLOW. Get a long shaft flathead screwdriver. Visually locate the module. While laying upside down with your head on the carpet, BLINDLY grasp the wire loom connected to the plug with your left hand. Push in the square hook tab located on right side of connector plug with flathead screwdriver that should be in your right hand. Gently pull on the wire loom, popping out the connector easily.
Thanks for locating the module under the dash(stupid daytime running lights).
