Alright a couple of people have been asking how to install these. Sam sent me a message the other day asking me to tell him how I did it. So I decided to write a "How to" on it. Now I got the real kits cuz I'm lazy (like 400$) but you can easily make your own using 8 gauge wire for a fraction of that price.

This is what the Hyper Voltage System looks like (you can ground the car without the Voltage System but I took it because it hooks up to the Gounding Kit and the 2 together give maximum performance)

As you can see the Voltage System hooks up the battery terminals only

The 3rd wire goes from the Voltage Kit to the alternator

I used the remaining wires to go from the alternator to the chassis again then from the chassis to the throttle body

If you don't have a Hyper Voltage System, you can start your 1st wire from the negative battery terminal or a good ground from the chassis.

how many feet total is that?

I know http://www.sportcompactonly.com sells a great grounding kit, and its pretty affordable.

Whiteraven, is that the NRG ones or the SCO?

Is it real, that sportcompactonly just charges $5 for Shipping and Handling? I've gone to the checkout and the S+H has always been $5.

Usually shipping is caculated by the weight of the product, shipping dimensions, etc....but they recently changed their in-house systems, so some things have changed since I left.

I bought a kit from ebay for about 40 bucks.

Installed it today in about 2 hours, it looks good, the car started and everything worked...no harm done LOL, now I'll see if I notice any improvements...

What improvements does this provide? I thought this was only necessary if you are running MSD ignition...

I read that it's SUPPOSED to improve the electrical performance of the entire vehicle. ie; smoother idle, brighter lighting, ect. ect. For 40 bucks, why not try it was my thinking.

Let us know what you think about it. I have my doubts about this mod on any car, but I proved myself wrong after doing it to my old Subaru. Ran smoother on the freeway and the lights didn't dim when the stereo hit. It just 'felt' better, tough to explain. I'm curious how it is on the aveo though.

What size guage of wire?

If for electricity the lower the gauge the better conductivity then would it not be true for grounding wires?

I can't really tell what gauge the Nemesys's Sun Hyper Ground wires are.
I've seen 4 gauge wires at http://www.sportcompactonly.com
and 8 or 12 gauge NRG wires at http://www.sportcompactonly.com and http://www.cardomain.com.
Then the ones on ebay which are 8 guage.

Also I'd like to know if the set-up of 5 wires from the battery is better or if the NRG wires with the centered hub is better?

I personally think the NRG kit is better...if I had it to do over I would buy them (my Sun System was another perk included in the purchase of my car) I guess if anyone wants a Sun System (works really good) then I'll get the NRG one. :D

HONESTLY....I do not notice any difference, if anything, the car does seem to idle a tad smoother, but nothing mind blowing.

I did notice this winter, when on defrost the fan fluctuated with my throttle. (ie, when I accelerated, the fan seemed to turn faster)

Yeah we just need a better alternator.

jalucerol, from the looks of it (look under norm's name, there is no stats or anything) norm is not a registered user on here anymore for one thing... second thing - the original post was posted back in 2006.... And even the last post before yours is over 3 years old. I think it's pretty safe to guess that he won't get your message. 8)

I may be wrong since I've never tried it before, but I'm highly skeptical of these grounding kits doing anything for the car. It may give the negative side another path, but given that the entire chassis and frame of the vehicle, along with anything conductive contacting it, acts as an electrical path, I doubt that a few more wires will really do much good.

try taking all your factory grounding straps off and see if your car will even start. and i am not talking about the negative battery cable.

If you add/upgrade the positive side of the battery, you need to add/upgrade the negative side. grounding everything to the closest bolt is not the best method of grounding. it will limit sound system performance, etc.

the electrical circuit can only be as good as worst point of the circle. this is not an endorsement though, but you hit a point in the electrical system that you do need this kit.

Ok, so now that this thread is back to life anyways, what grounding kits are out there for us? I checked out the link in the earlier post in this thread, but some images didn't work and the whole site almost seems dead...

idk, any good suggestions? Is there another write-up with all the images working? I've noticed an improvement when I went from the stock ACDelco to a YellowTop Deep Cycle Optima, but I'm thinking I could improve the electrical system even more by installing a grounding kit.
Is this a DIY or does it make sense to buy one from the company?

All a grounding kit does is electrically connect (in addition to the stock wire) different parts of the chassis & engine. You can do the same thing with normal wire and crimp on ring connectors for way less $. If you want it to look pretty, you just find yourself some pretty wire.

Exactly what he said. The kits look nice for show but if function is what you want you can do it cheaper

the one nice thing about the kits is it gives a grounding block that you can attach to the ground on the battery directly. This is fantastic if you build a fiberglass or carbon fiber kit car. Think of doubling the harness wires because you can't just ground everything

I guess my main question is how do I know where to connect the wires? I see your point about finding some 8 gauge wire that looks fine (in my case I would keep it black, as long as it serves it's purpose) and crimping the ends, but after that part I'm lost at where to connect them to/from.

And rabbit, the grounding block, can I get that separately/make it without buying the whole kit?

lmao, again I should have looked at the date. . . oh well maybe I can find a decent how too in another car forum and adapt it to this one. . . I will also look again in the other aveo/kalos/the others forums.

if you look the hook up locations are all listed. its basically a distribution block with a main wire going to the neg battery terminal, then wires going to the engine block, tranny case, body ground, alternator (case i assume?), some probably have more than one body ground, as well as a starter case ground.

After a bit more research, I just did this on my car. You don't need to worry about all of the grounds listed, but it's not going to hurt either.

I only ran the Block and Alternator grounds, plus an additional ground from the battery.

Improved throttle response seems to be the biggest bonus from this mod.
