with the 07 model you undo the 3 screw (1 inside the boot 2 on the tail gate were the lid closes) then there is 2 plugs on the outter edges just pull it off. ull need to use abit of force but be careful not to damage the paint!
like he said, should be a couple on the top of the light and then a few inside the trunk panel...
I'm having a hard time with this as well.
I have the sedan.
The manual says to just undo the two bolts on the tail light when you pop the trunk, and pull it out.
i removed the two bolts and it wont come out. I dont see any other bolts on the light either. I removed the carpet in the trunk to look at the back on the tail light, but i didnt see anything to unscrew.
too bad you aren't closer to Chicago, I'd help you out when I am there in Jan.
Yeah I tried on the 08 and it won't budge, i think there is a screw in the corner of the tail light. Unless there is a certain way to remove it. Will try again more when the car dries. I'll take some pics and maybe have a how to.Quote:

I went to the dealer yesterday to get the firing order, and schedule an oil change and I asked them there.
They said that there directions say to just unscrew the two screws on the lamp when you open the trunk. he said you may just have to push a bit harder.
Aussie Barina -
I didnt see any other screws behind the lamp.
I pulled the carpet back too and didnt see anything.
well im not too sure on your car as its an older model but on mine its on the outside off the carpet (you can see it wen u open ur boot, it basically just gives access to behind the light) i then just pushed the cabling plug out (needed abit of force to do this) then popped the light off using a lil force. essentially there is only 2 screws holding it on but the wiring plug tens to become another plug on the outside edge of the light so you must push the wire plug thru
ill post some pics later to help
Thanks for all the hints, finally removed successfully, note no need to push wiring harness thru the grommet; the chore was getting my fat fingers behind the unit enough to pull straight out, to over come the grip of 2 plastic pins.
Now I need to find out why I'm getting water in the backup light area, Guess I'll need to silcone the joint all around.
i removed my 09 hatch tails yesterday it was quite easy...
remove the 2 bolts philips,
on the other side there are 2 clips,,,
stuck a screw driver in the middle of the gap between the taillight and quater panel, and ply, there are 2 studs,,,
like the headlight,,, but becareful not to scrtch the body when prying...
