How to fix the trunk mechanism on Aveo

Hi everyone,
I've got an Aveo sedan. The trunk mechanism has been broken for years, meaning that it won't stay up. I've taken it to the Chevrolet dealership for repair, they said I need to order a whole new mechanism, does anyone on this forum know how this works or how to fix it? I'm not sure if the mechanism is the same in every country.
