THIS IS A D.I.Y. TO REMOVE THE FEATURE THAT WONT ALLOW YOU TO LOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BY PUSHING DOWN THE BUTTON.
I did it without taking the "mechanism" out of the door. It was quite difficult to get to, but I figured this was was easier than removing all the linkages attached to it.
1. Remove the door panel, be careful not to break the retaining ring around the door handle.
2. Take out the 3 screws the hold the mechanism to the door frame, remove that oval metal peice ( I have no idea what good that peice does), also pull back plastic.
3. Stick your head in the bottom hole and push the mechanism into the door somewhat, so that you can see it better. There is a reasonable amount of play once the screws are out but try not to break, bend, disconnect any of the linkages. Once you have located the "lock blocker" ( highlighted in red in pic below) snip it off there. Its in a tight spot so it may take some skill and a little time.
Here's a pic after removal.
And just like that you can lock your driver side door without a key.
While I had the door panel off i stole this idea from another poster. Turn that weird circle thing on the door into a mag-light holder
