OBD socket bracket broken and failed emissions test!

      Hi,

My 2009 Aveo LT failed its emissions test due to the OBD socket hanging loose under the dash, apparently the bracket has snapped and they failed the car because of that!

An autoshop tried epoxy resin to fix it back but it snapped straight off on second attempt at the test station and failed again!

Can I just replace the end of the wiring loom as the loom itself goes all the way into the main loom and I don't wanna mess with that level of complication! If so where can I get a new bracket from?

many thanks in advance for any assistance you can give!

      Ex Brit

      Simon

      Hi,

Thanks for the link but it wont let me purchase the part

and the garage have now quoted $250 dollars to fix the bloody thing, when only the poxy bracket is broken! Grrrrr

If I did locate the bracket/plug part can I just swap it over with the broken one without having to splice in all the wires, as long as I get all the pins in the correct position I cant see it being a problem?

If you notice when you look at the part, there is a blue thingy. That blue thingy is a pin lock. You can pull the pin lock out and the pins are free. You just need to find the plastic part and do the swap. So I got you a part number, maybe you should start looking local source for parts. Rock Auto is US, not sure if your Schaumburg is in the US or not.

I was able to use the above link and put the part in my shopping cart. So Matey, things are not looking good for Cap'n Barnacle.

Here is a ebay source: OBD OBD2 OBDII EOBD J1962 Female Connector DLC Plug | eBay

So, I got the part off a scrapper! cost me nothing except the entrance fee of two dollars!
fitted it, went for the test!

computer aknowledged the connection but then said the car wasn't communicating, another fail! Also had a check engine light on the way home!

going to the mechanics this morning, I give in

congrats...ah...sort of... There is about only three or four wires there. I looked at mine over the weekend as I had to remove my old cruise control setup. I hope they are able to fix it!
