When replacing the head, how do you make sure you have the cams in the correct place for timing?

What to do if, while following the bold removal sequence, Bolt #3 just slips? I switched from a 13mm socket to a 13mm box wrench, but it just slips over too... Now what?!?

I'm afraid to continue or I'll end with a rounded bolt stuck in there. PLEASE HELP!

Are you using a 12-pt socket by any chance? For cases like this, 6-pt sockets are a must - otherwise you end up in the exact situation you are facing
