Did you ever get this installed? How did it work out? I'm thinking of using the gaskets/washers that came with it just to keep the seal, but if it does break, I'm going with one_man_jam's choice and getting the blox.

cheap and i think it works better than the homemade one. I did try the nonfouler trick and yes it worked but eventually broke due to the threaded area being so thin and the vibration from the car.
the blox one is solid though. my .02
The non-fouler that I bought from the store (same part number as in the DIY above) seems to look a little different than the one above. I'm going to try it first since I already did all the drilling, but I will keep this one in mind in case this one does break. Which thread broke, the inner one that is drilled out? And also, did you use the washers/crush gaskets that came with it?

Edit: it does look like it's a lot easier to work with though and it's the same price (unless they charge for shipping) with no drilling involved.
it was the threaded part of the drilled one that broke. i can't really remember if i used the provided washer or if the one i bought even came with one, but if it did then i think i did use it. for the price its definitely worth a try though

And I will give it a try. one thing that non fouler method has going for it (for me anyways) is that I could pick it up at the store and have it the same day. Plus, now that its drilled, all I have to do is install it.

Due to my schedule I have not gotten around to installing the header.

Nope, no one has answered the washer question. Let me now if and where you install them.

      Thanks

I'm planning on installing one between the foulers and another one between the fouler and the exhaust. one_man_jam's broke before so he went with another part number (it's in the post above), but since I already did all the drilling, I'm going to try this one first. I will keep you posted.

And what header are you putting in? Is it xiaogary's header? cat-less?

I honestly don't know what the most restrictive part is. In my situation, I want to leave the stock manifold and cat because I need that restriction...If I ran a header and a test pipe like I want, my car would never warm up at -50*F.

But it's WAY colder up there where you're at. Where I'm at my main concern lies with CAI (discussed in a couple of other threads) sucking up water and hydrolocking my engine. But that cold is not an issue in Seattle area... I actually miss snow quite a bit - I grew up with four proper seasons... Lived in Seattle for over 10 years but still miss having my winter and my summer... not a year-round rain season with 3-6 weeks of sunshine... But I'm already settled here for now.

You can still run a CAI without risk of hydro-lock, just use a hydro shield on your filter like this: http://www.racinglab.com/injen-hydroshield-x1033.html or the bypass is like this: http://www.tirerack.com/engine_tuning/d ... sp?ID=1082

Nice... I just ordered the exact hydro shield (or Drycharger filter wrap as K&N calls it) specifically for my filter: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... =RX-4990DK should I also order the bypass or would that be an overkill? And it says that the bypass is only designed for AEM CAI's.. does that mean that it won't work with ChromeIntakes CAI? And also, where in ChromeIntakes would I put a bypass, if I even need it... Thanks for the input.

You'd put the bypass where the two pipes come together. In other words, you'd substitute the silicone coupler for the bypass.
