Truck Horns on an Aveo

We know, the horn on the Aveo sucks. It's like a friendly Mr. Speedy running around the neighborhood saying Hi! Now it's time to add some bite to this small dog.

You will need the horns, some electrical, some metal for bracket.

PART 1) The Bracket

1) Remove the front bumper cover. This really has to be done to get access to the space inside
2) Optional remove the bumper. There are four nuts 14mm holding the bumper to the radiator support
3) Cut the metal to length. I used about 8 inches

4) Mount the metal to the upper right channel. I welded mine. You could also use two 3/8 bolts to do the same function. I would offset vertically the two bolts to allow access with an open end wrench.

After Welding, if you weld grind down and paint.


5) Put a curve into your new bracket to follow the shape of the bumper cover.


6) Mount the smaller horn to the outside end. The bumper cover curls up more there. Mount the longer horn on the inside of smaller horn. Mount the air compressor on the lower channel of the bumper. You can see the nut and compressor holding in place behind the longer horn.


7) Test fit with the bumper cover. You may have to bend the bracket more or even angle it so the horns angle towards the car.


You can see the air compressor on the left, the longer horn in the middle and the shorter horn on the right.


Run the hose from the air compressor to the two horns using the Y connector.


9) Mount the bumper and it should look like this:
