I took the car to Holdens today, they checked the installation (inc torque), all good!!

They suggested using the wiring "T" kit supplied with the bar. I will fit that tomorrow.

I got told for my MY06 model that it is not rated to tow, therefore can not purchase a tow bar for it

      Partially correct.

The Barina had been de-rated for towing. It seems we can't have it both ways, a 5 seater car with a boot and a towing vehicle.

I contacted Holdens and it goes like this,
Standard sedan, 5 x 68kg for the seats and 68kg for the boot.
With a tow bar, take the static weight of the towbar, wiring, ball etc, off the boot allowance.
With a trailer, take the ball weight of the trailer off the rear seating allowance.

Most small tow bars are rated to 750kg, with a max towing weight of 380kg for the trailer and load.
This means maybe two adults, some tools in the boot, and a garden trailer with grass clippings is about all one can take to the tip.

Some photos of the trailer I restored and later sold.
Note: the car wiring only supports LED trailer lights!

You sold that trailer? That was an awesome restoration job. I have been tempted to tow my jet ski. My hitch was bolted to the bumper and the bottom tie down on the sheet metal frame.

I will need to look in getting a light kit for my guy.

Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
